BatterySafety.co.uk is published by Marzan Security Ltd, which supplies and installs battery storage and charging cabinets. The site is funded by that business, and some pages link to it. We state that openly on every page that recommends anything, and the guidance is written to be useful whether or not you buy from anyone.
Who publishes this
Marzan Security Ltd, registered in England and Wales, Company No. 12251272, VAT 342 0900 39. The company supplies and installs battery storage and charging cabinets, including the SafetyFirst BS series, which is tested to VDMA 24994.
There is no editorial independence claim being made here. A supplier publishing safety guidance has an obvious interest, and pretending otherwise would be worse than declaring it. What we can offer instead is a set of rules we hold ourselves to, and the ability for you to check whether we are keeping them.
How the site is funded
Two routes, both signposted:
- SimplySafes.co.uk — a UK webshop selling standard cabinets with published prices. Pages covering routine, off-the-shelf requirements link there.
- Marzan Security — surveys, installation, fleet and multi-site work, quarantine and recycling arrangements. Pages covering requirements that need specifying link there.
No advertising, no sponsored content, and no affiliate arrangements with third parties.
Editorial rules
These are the rules every page is checked against before publication. If you find a page that breaks one, tell us and we will correct it.
- Every statistic carries a named source and an outbound link. Where we have no source, we say so rather than estimating. You will find several places on this site where we decline to quote a number that is widely repeated elsewhere, for exactly that reason.
- No absolute safety claims. Cabinets are fire-resistant for a tested duration. “Fireproof” is not a claim any test supports, and we do not use it as one.
- No claim that a cabinet is legally required. No UK regulation requires one. Saying otherwise would sell more cabinets and would be untrue.
- Standards described as tested. VDMA 24994 is a German industry specification, not a UK or BSI standard. EN 14470-1 covers flammable liquid cabinets and its application to batteries is disputed. UL 9540A covers energy storage systems, not cabinets. Where sources conflict, we say so instead of picking the convenient side.
- Named author, publication date and last-reviewed date on every guidance page.
- News is summarised, never reproduced. Our own wording, at most one short quotation, named attribution and a link to the original.
What this site is not
It is not legal advice, and it is not a substitute for a fire risk assessment carried out for your premises by someone competent to do it. Guidance here is general: it cannot know your building, your quantities or your people. Where a decision carries real consequences, take advice.
