The basis on which guidance is provided
Everything on this site is general information about lithium-ion battery safety, storage and the regulatory framework in the United Kingdom. It is not legal advice, it is not a fire risk assessment, and it is not a specification for your premises.
General guidance cannot account for your building, your quantities, your processes or your people, and those are usually what determine the right answer. Where a decision matters, take advice from someone competent who has looked at your site. Nothing here removes or reduces your duties under health and safety or fire safety legislation.
Accuracy
We take care to be accurate, to source every statistic, and to say when something is uncertain or contested rather than papering over it. Even so: regulations change, standards are revised, and products are updated. Pages carry a published date and a last-reviewed date so you can judge how current they are, and we would rather hear about an error than not — see contact.
Where we describe a standard, we describe what it covers as tested. We do not claim that VDMA 24994 is a UK or British standard, that EN 14470-1 settles the question of battery cabinet performance, or that any cabinet is required by UK regulation, because none of those things is true.
Limits of our liability
We provide this site and its content without any warranty that it is complete, current or fit for a particular purpose. To the extent the law permits, we are not liable for loss arising from reliance on it. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

We link to official sources — legislation, the HSE, fire and rescue services, OPSS — so you can check what we have said against the original.
